Sigma Recruitment Agency are pleased to announce that Swansea University and its partner Colleges will be holding the last open day for the last minute enrolment to the partially funded Engineering Foundation Degrees at: Towers Hotel, Jersey Marine, Swansea on 2nd September from 8:30 to 10am. (Bacon Baps, tea and coffee will be available).

- Electrical/Electronic – Gower College Swansea, Neath Port Talbot College and Pembrokeshire College

- Electrical and Power Systems – Pembrokeshire College
- Process Operations and Maintenance – Pembrokeshire College
This is a great opportunity to achieve a degree level qualification whilst working as it is delivered on a part-time basis, one day a week from 9am to 8 pm. It is important that your employer agrees to your day release.
What is the Foundation Degrees?
The Foundation Degrees have been developed to enable those working in a variety of engineering settings to study for an undergraduate qualification with a vocational emphasis. They have been designed to give those who have a wealth of practical experience the theoretical underpinning to enable Engineers and Technicians to make the connection between practice and theory. A Foundation Degree is a qualification in its own right which awards the designation FdEng to successful students. Furthermore, it provides an entry route for those who wish to progress to the final year of a BEng (Hons) degree after successful completion of their Foundation Degree.
Funding Opportunity
For the September 2014 intake, students who meet the criteria outlined in the brochure, will be fully funded for the first year (Sept 14 to July 15). However the funding arrangements for the 2nd year still need to be clarified. We will update our potential students as soon as we hear developments regarding the future funding opportunities. In the event that the funding arrangements have not been resolved by September 2015, then the second year of the programme may run on a part-time fee paying basis.
