Following a major fire at it’s Swansea production facility Pure Wafer could switch some production to a US foundry. The company is apparently reviewing the damage caused by the fire and has stated that production will be affected.
Pure Wafer is one of Wales’ leading hi-tech firms and disappointingly the company may be forxced to switch production to its US operation as it reported to the London Stock Exchange teh extent of the damage.
More than 60 firefighters brought a fire under control at Pure Wafer’s semi-conductor recycling facility at Central Business Park at Llansamlet which broke out just after 9am.
The facility operates around the clock and all staff present at the facility when the fire broke out were evacuated with no reported injuries or persons missing. Pure Wafer is a worldwide leader in the provision of wafer reclaim services. These services enable semiconductor manufacturers to gain further efficiencies through the increased re-use of silicon test wafers within their production processes.
