Renewable Developments Wales, a privately-owned company which develops sustainable energy schemes, has submitted plans for building a 22-acre solar farm at Cockett Valley in Waunarlwydd, Swansea.
Renewable Developments Wales, which is based near Ammanford, works with farmers and other landowners to bring forward suitable sites. The Cockett Valley application site is currently vacant, but was previously used as agricultural pasture.
It consists of several individual field compartments surrounded by mature hedgerows and tree belts, which will remain intact, as it is intended to return the land to agricultural use during the life of the solar farm.
About 14,790 panels will be erected on site, which will enable the generation of up to four megawatts of renewable energy.
