Business Insider magazine has revealed a list of the top 20 companies ranked by turnover and profit in Newport and Gwent.

Many of the companies listed are manufacturing companies and include:

• Taking first place is Newport-headquartered Wales & West Gas Networks, the parent of Wales and West Utilities which is the owner, operator and developer of the majority of the gas distribution systems in Wales and the South West of England. It is the largest employer on the list with 1,364 staff.
• Fourth place on the list is Zodiac Seats UK. The manufacturing business, which develops seating and cabin furniture for the first and business class sections of aircraft employs 1,080 people from its base in Cwmbran. It recorded turnover of £175.3m in its 2013 financial year, with pre-tax profits of £15m.
