Plans to build two industrial blocks on a disused site near Pontypool are set to get the go-ahead from councillors.

Developer Starburst UK plans to construct a total of eight units as part of the first phase of the Usk Vale scheme, located on a 9.3-acre site off the A4042 at Mamhilad.

Two terraces will be built measuring 14,200 sq ft and 15,800 sq ft. These will be divided into four units each.

The site forms part of a wider parcel of land, formerly owned by the Welsh Government, allocated for industrial development.

Torfaen County Borough Council will vote on the proposal at a planning committee meeting on 25 April. A report prepared ahead of the meeting has recommended that approval is given.

It said: “This proposal is the first phase of an allocated industrial site which would generate much needed employment and bring forward an employment allocation and facilitate the development of the rest of the allocation.”
