Bridgend has received an employment boost with the announcement from CGI that the IT services group is to create 620 jobs in Bridgend after securing £3.2m in business finance from the Welsh Government.
With the latest growth in employees this will increase the Welsh workforce to over 1500 employees, 25% of the CGI UK workforce.
The 620 jobs created by the funding will include a variety of entry-level and skilled roles including:
- Service desk analysts
- Technical design architects
- Project management
- Security specialists
- Network engineers
The announcement comes after a meeting between First Minister Carwyn Jones and Michael Roach, president of Canada-headquartered CGI, in Montreal in July.
Jones said: “This is great news for Wales and our IT sector and a great vote of confidence in Wales as a place to do business.
“It speaks volumes about what Wales has to offer as a business location for companies looking to expand.”
