The Government has announced that agreements with many of the UK’s leading companies will see over 16,000 new apprentices over the next 5 years.
These employers include:
- Morrisons – 9000 apprentices
- Whitbread – 6000 apprentices
- National Grid
- Crest Nicholson
The announcement forms part of a Conservative party pledge to create an extra three million apprentices (on top of the 2.2 million created since 2010) over the next five years if they win the general election on May the 7th.
In 2013 the Prime Minister promised that apprentices would be the “new norm” for school leavers who decide not to go to university, and said employing more apprentices could benefit the economy by more than £3.4 billion in economic gains.
