What you will do as the shift manager
You will lead, mentor, and develop a team of around 30 operators and two shift supervisors, leading across several production areas: you will be the first point of contact for supervisor escalations. You will be the most senior person on site outside of office hours and will be accountable for manufacturing performance, product quality, health, and safety. Key responsibilities will also include:
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing them using lean tools.
- Leading first-stage absence/sickness reviews and supporting investigations
- Developing your team to increase cross-functional skills across different areas of production.
- Leading the shift to achieve on-time in full (OTIF) and ensuring customer satisfaction.
What you need to apply for the shift manager position
- Experience at shift manager level gained in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Experience in identifying and successfully implementing lean/CI improvements.
- Good health and safety awareness.
- Familiarity with absence management procedures.
What you will receive
A salary of £46,000, including shift allowance, a BONUS of up to 20% if you can hit a demanding stretch target or up to 10% for hitting the standard target, an 8% pension contribution, private medical, and 18 shifts holiday plus the bank holidays!
The working hours
You will work what is sometimes known as the 'Panama' shift pattern, 12-hour shifts, days, and nights; starting from the Monday you will work 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off over a 2-week pattern. You will be off every other weekend!
