Job Details
Successful business looking for a solution engineer / technical consultant. You will be part of a small, flexible, fun, and ambitious company where you will make a significant impact from day one and grow as the business does.
The business develops an innovative software product that solves complex problems in complex industry sectors worldwide. These include aerospace and defence, MoD/DoD, nuclear, semiconductor, and automotive. You will be joining the business at a point of inflexion, with the opportunity to work with some of the world's finest organisations and programmes. You will grow as an individual as the business grows.
We are seeking candidates with an MEng degree. You will need to be confident and presentable because the role is a hybrid technical consultant that is primarily client-facing. You must be eligible to obtain a UK security clearance. Ideally, you will have benefited from a graduate training scheme at a blue-chip organisation and have some industry experience. You will need to be excellent with IT, have programmed or scripted before, and enjoyed it, might have been at university, in your career, as a hobby, or daily in Excel / Power Query or similar.
The solution engineer / technical consultant position will involve: -
- Conceptual and problem-solving work, including building models, manipulating data, configuring automations from information systems, and generating value from the models.
- Helping our clients focus on what is important using big picture thinking.
- Collaboratively capturing knowledge of processes and value streams to complement what can be mined.
- Using Six-Sigma and lean tools to work with clients to build and deliver value propositions
To be clear, you don't need to be an expert in the clients' industry; you just need to be bright, interested and become skilled in what the company do. This role is not about coding, but there is an overlap. You must want to get your hands dirty, through trial and error, to build elegant solutions, document and make them better. The business plan to modernise this aspect of their solution and will likely want to train you in a modern scripting language like Python, machine learning and other techniques.
The solution engineer / technical consultant will receive a salary of £30,000 - £40,000 + a performance bonus, private health insurance, critical illness, life assurance, pension, flexible working arrangement (home-based) and holidays.
You will be home-based with travel to clients as needed and travel to the office in Bristol once or twice per month.
