Job Details
Graduate buyer required to join an established, growing, SME with plans to grow and expand the business further. The company offers a close-knit, relaxed and friendly culture with an approachable management team.
You will work as a junior buyer as part of the purchasing function and work closely with the purchasing manager to help to ensure that materials arrive at site in line with customer demand, best costs are achieved and all supply chain processes and procedures are adhered to.
Graduate buyer duties will include:
- Planning orders to maintain inventory levels
- Monitoring of stock levels and supplier lead times to identify any issues
- Ordering materials and components to meet production schedules
- Ad-hoc purchasing of materials, goods and services as required
- Involvement in supplier negotiation
- Obtaining cost updates for regularly purchased items as required
- Undertaking analysis of regularly purchased items
- Producing reports regularly to provide price comparison data
- Taking ownership of assigned items of inventory
- Expediting material requirements to meet customer demands
- Editing requisitions and communicating with various stakeholders regarding changing demands
To apply for the graduate buyer / junior buyer role, you will need:
- A degree level qualification in a relevant subject such as Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Operations Management, Sustainable Supply chain Management, Business Studies, etc.
- Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain role gained via industrial placement or post-graduation is desirable
- Strong Microsoft Office skills in all applications
- MRP/ERP experience is desirable
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal formats
In return, the graduate buyer will receive a salary of £23,000-£27,000 (dependent on experience) + pension, etc.
